Minister for Education, Heritage and Arts Mahendra Reddy on Friday officiated in opening three projects in Lautoka totalling  $124,000.

The projects included a new classroom and a library at Lautoka Andhra Sangam Primary School and the new Industrial Arts Workshop for Lautoka Andhra Sangam College.

Both schools are managed by the Dakshina India Andhra Sangam of Fiji.

Dakshina India Andhra Sangam of Fiji general manager Gyneshwar Rao said: “We are so excited and thankful to the Fijian Government for providing us with the funding for the development of our schools.

“This will not only benefit the students but also boost the morale of our schools.

“Parents will also be able to know what our schools are giving the best education and facilities to their children here in Lautoka district.

“We are looking for more grants towards developing our schools because they are located in an area where there is high demand for places in both schools,” he said.

The minister commended Andhra Sangam Primary School and Andhra Sangam College for their investment in education.

He urged the parents to support their children in their education
