Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh

On this joyous occasion of Eid ul Fitr, on behalf of the Fiji Muslim League I bring greetings to our Muslim community and people of Fiji. “May the blessings of Almighty Allah be showered upon you and grace your homes with peace, warmth and love”.

For Muslims worldwide, Eid is an auspicious festival characterized by a renewal of faith, commitment to family and community and forgiveness of sins and enmity.

Over the past month, during the observance of Ramadhan, we have honored our obligation to fast, practice austerity, offer prayers and perform acts of charity. This month teaches patience, self-restraint, discipline and spiritual elevation to those who observe it.

The Eid day brings happiness, unity and the knowledge that true joy comes from our ability to alleviate the suffering of our needy brothers and sisters.

Islam teaches us how to lead upright and responsible lives, serve our fellow human beings and render service to humanity. We should all try to emulate the fine examples set by our ancestors in this regard.

Let us use this time of increased spirituality to serve others, to make our neighborhoods, our communities and our country a better and a safer place for everyone. Let God consciousness and spirituality guide our efforts.

As we join our nation in observing Eid ul Fitr, let us pledge to continue to demonstrate the spirit of tolerance and understanding that rests within the hearts of the people of Fiji.

To our Muslim brothers and sisters it is my prayer that Almighty Allah blesses your home with happiness, our heart with devotion and our soul with purity.

Once again on behalf of the Fiji Muslim League, I would like to wish Eid Mubarak to our beloved nation.

“O mankind! We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female and made you into nations and tribes that you may know each other. Verily the most honored of you in the sight of Allah is (one who is) the most righteous of you. And Allah has full knowledge and is well acquainted (with all things).” (Qur’an 49:13)
