Jelenda Judith Vosalevu was the proudest Year 13 student in Fiji yesterday.

The St Thomas High School Head Girl was the recipient of the Baton of Honour.

Ms Vosalevu was the parade commander at the school’s pass out parade in Lautoka yesterday.

“At first I was nervous when I was asked to do the task but I picked myself up,” Vosalevu said.

She said the training and being given the job as parade commander has changed her in that she sees herself as a much more mature person.

“Everything just fell into place during training.”

She said the military officers who took the students through the cadet training taught them discipline and personally she has benefitted from it.

“I was at a lower rank and they saw something in me and the pushed me forward and for me it was a proud moment having done this for my school.”

“My mum, Anastasia and dad Josefa are really proud of me.”

Vosalevu said this training was good for her as she wanted to be a role model for her five other younger brothers and sisters.
