Staff of a Lautoka bus company are still reeling in shock after knife-wielding masked men broke into their yard and stole about $8000.

Classic Buses Limited operations manager Arun Mani Naidu said: “It was on Wednesday at around 8:45pm when my staff and I were counting money. Three people wearing masks with cane knives came into our yard.

“At first they hassled with our security guard and the two drivers.

“Two robbers then stayed outside while the third carrying the knife came to us.”

Mr Naidu said the robber banged on the door with the knife and threatened them not to touch their mobile phones.

“The man took more than $8000 cash and some vouchers.

“We are really disturbed after what has happened. They came with cane knives and we could not do anything,” he said.

Mr Naidu said one of their drivers got hurt when he tried to stop the robbers from running away.

“This is the fourth time such an incident has happened. They had previously tried to break in three times but they missed but the fourth time they were successful,” he said.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said: “The amount alleged to have been stolen is more than $8000.”

“We are carrying out an investigation.”
