BLK Nadroga trounced Macuata 109-3 at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka yesterday to secure second place on the Skipper Cup points table.

Nadroga ran in 16 tries, successful with 13 conversions and a drop goal while Macuata only managed three points through a penalty.

What happened: Nadroga fielded a powerful side led by experienced players Setefano Somoca, Manoa Tamaya while first five eight Peceli Nacebe marshalled the backline. They registered their bonus point in the first half after scoring seven tries while Nacebe was successful with six conversions. Winger Josevata Nalimoce scored a double alongside Nacebe while Somoca, Sanaila Nasuto and Mosese Tawake scored a try each. The visitors managed to kick in a penalty.

Halftime: Nadroga led 47- 3 Macuata

The Stallions powered on in the second half putting Macuata under immense pressure. Nacebe scored their eighth try and also converted it. Macuata were in dire straits with Nacebe kicking in a drop goal.

Stallions were unstoppable with hooker Viliame Tuilaucala diving in for their ninth  try with the conversion going over before they ran in seven tries.

Big play: Nacebe stood out in the backline with his superb attacking performance and decision making, which saw him score 46 points.

Comments: Nadroga prop Setefano Somoca said: “We’ve faith in our young players and they are also able to do the job.”

Macuata assistant coach Minio Toganivalu: “We don’t have professional players so we have set-up a strategic plan for next year to develop our players.
