New Zealand’s deputy Prime Minister Paula Bennett has reaffirmed NZ’s support for Fijian presidency of COP23.

She made the comment on her arrival at Nadi International Airport last night.

She said she was looking forward to the deliberations at the Climate Action Pacific Partnership Event at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva today and tomorrow.

“It has been very good (flight to Fiji) and looking forward to the discussion in the next couple of days,” Ms Bennett said.

She said NZ would rally behind the initiative undertaken by the Fijian Government.

“We are definitely excited about them running COP 23 and just want to offer the support we can. It is a great opportunity to highlight climate change in the Pacific and the rest of the world to see that.”

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama, who is also COP23 president, will deliver the keynote address. Ms Bennett is among climate change leaders attending the meeting.
