Deadly Heatwave

Shiu Kumar, Ba

The impact of global warming is real and felt all over the planet. Heat related diseases will soon beset our people. People are already victims of this across the globe and measures are to be taken here to curb the effect as it will not be long when we will have to face the consequences.

Our current leaders are proactive in advocating the issue with prominent leaders of the world to protect the small island nations from the adverse impacts of climate change.

We need to join our leaders in voicing our concern so that those who do not support remedial action will appreciate the facts and issues involved and come to a consensus on climate change.

Many thanks to the Fiji Sun for publishing the articles to create greater awareness in our country on this issue.

The onus is on individuals, community leaders, church leaders and stakeholders to educate our people on this issue.

The situation is grave and we must protect life on our beautiful earth . The time to act is now rather than later.

Mr Kumar will receive a Philips Daily Collection Coffee maker as our Letter of the Week winner.
