Number set to rise after nationwide registration ends this weekend, Saneem adds.

The Fijian Elections Office have so far registered 603,557 voters for the 2018 General Elections.

This is the registration figures released from the Supervisor of Elections, Mohammed Saneem, as of April 20, this year. He said they were expected to receive more updates on the current figures as the nationwide registration drive ends this weekend.

The Electoral Commission, Mr Saneem said had approved that the highest number of voters assigned to a polling station should be 500.

There are 409 polling venues in the Central Division, 464 in the West, 337 in the North and 206 in the Eastern Division.

Based on the number of polling stations in each division, the Fijian Elections Office expects around 2019 polling stations for the next election.

But Mr Saneem said the number of polling stations might vary and would be released much closer to the election dates.

The registration of voters will end this weekend after it was extended for another week.
