Kokoda is a Fijian delicacy that is one of the popular dishes at Tanoa Plaza Hotel, Suva.

Tanoa Plaza is one of the ideal place to stay for any kind of travel to Suva – be it business or pleasure.

Of course the hotel’s Zest Restaurant offers a selection of fine cuisine for breakfast, lunch and evening meals as well as snacks throughout the day.

It opens everyday from 6.30am to 10.30pm.


About chef Jokatama Rarasea

Teamwork is very important when you work in a big organisation says Jokatama Rarasea.

Originally from Nanuku Village, Ba, Mr Rarasea is a chef by profession and is looking after the kitchen staff at Tanoa Plaza Suva.

After a break from tertiary studies in 2008 he was later motivated to return.

“In 2007 it was Fiji Institute of Technology then now Fiji National University I was doing my certificate 3 in commercial cookery.

“Half way through my studies I decided to take a break so I ended up cutting cane for three years.

“I later decided to return to complete my studies at Service Pro here in Suva.

“This is my fourth year at Tanoa Plaza and I am very thankful that I have a great team here working with me.

“The former head chef left in April so I have been looking after the kitchen and the support from the staff and the management has been amazing.”

He has more than five years experience


Tanoa specials

Tanoa Plaza general manager Mere Rakoroi said: “We cater for evening events and we also have a wild range of menus for dinners and beverage packages and cocktails.

“For our in-house guests and casual drinkers we do have happy hour every single day from 5pm to 7pm that is 20 per cent off on Fiji beers and from 9pm to 10 pm as well.

“Friday night we have BBQ specials its $15 per person and its pre-plated, this is the tastiest BBQ in the city starts at 6pm to 9pm.

“Along with that we do have local serenaders with ukulele and they play every Monday to Fridays at 6pm to 9pm but if there are guest request we can always continue.”
