South Sea Cruises has stepped up their services after acquiring the latest in modern navigational and operational equipment with their latest catamaran, Tiger V.

Tiger V replaces Tiger IV which has been with the company for over a decade.

Tiger IV has carried well over a million passengers according to South Sea Cruises chief executive officer Brad Rutherford.

Tiger V can carry over 200 passengers for each trip.

It is structured out of aluminium and powered by twin Yamaha with 690 kilowatts power.

The built-in 24 meter high speed catamaran is an investment of $6.5 million.

During the traditional welcome ceremony yesterday Mr Rutherford said, “It has been a year in the planning it’s part of our fleet modernisation project so we have got two new vessels coming in this year.”

He said the two vessels are efficient and environmental friendly.

“It should bring extreme benefit to the company as it is more efficient with fuel burning.

“The team is very excited and this is going to add a great contribution to the tourism industry,  particularly in the Mamanucas where we operate on a daily basis,” Mr Rutherford said.

Tiger V will depart Denarau at 9am and return at 3pm every day.

A second vessel, Panther is expected to arrive before year end. The design is similar to the Tiger V.
