The night of the World Music Day event held at the Fiji Museum on June 23 was an evening to remember for many.

Organised by Alliance Française of Suva and the French Embassy, this is the 16th time this annual event was held here.

The aim of the concert is to give free access to music to everyone, everywhere. Each year more than 340 cities organise this event in more than 100 countries.

French Embassy Cultural and Co-operation Service representative, Manon Rousselle said people showed up during the day when it started in the late afternoon.

“It was a high quality performance from artists and bands and even the students from the schools really did great,” she said.

Ms Rousselle said the popular bands brought in the high quality performances expected which kept the crowd jamming all night.

Performers included 4 Quarters, TheRelativ, Tubuna Veiseyaki, Team Stay Focused, and Drixstar amongst others.

The music event’s special guest was the rock band, ‘3 Little Pigs’ arrived from New Caledonia.

Fiji Performing Rights Association Music Award winning rap group, Team Stay Focused (TSF) wowed the crowd during their time.

TSF member, Isikeli Pareti Savu said it was their first performance at the event and it was just an excellent feel for the group. The band performed their award winning songs,’ I’m from the West Coast’ and ‘Wawa Mada’.

“It was surprising how the crowd reacted and danced to our songs,” said rapper, Mr Savu said.

Ms Rousselle said they expect a much bigger and better event next year.
