Pacific athletes need to be educated on the anti- doping process, says Natanya Potoi.

The Oceania Regional Anti-Doping Organization (ORADO) chief executive officer made the comment to 32 participants from the Pacific region who attended the workshop which ended at the Tanoa International Hotel, Nadi yesterday.

“What we found was not only athletes committing anti-doping rule violation,” Potoi said.

“But also the athletes support personnel, coaches and managers need the support for them to understand their roles.

“There are events where a coach was almost sanctioned because of tampering with the doping control process and by tampering it will lead to athletes committing the anti-doping rule violation.

“These are some of the things we need to educate athletes and officials.”

ORADO hosted a five days Anti-Doping refresher course with the first three days being focussed on the trainer’s pathway on educators.
