Krishan Kumar also known as Nick is the 24-yea- old talented make-up artist behind familiar Miss World Fiji contestants, fashion show models and bridal party exhibitions.

As the pharmaceutical technician by profession, he started his career as a make-up artist in 2014 at the World Supermodel Pageant as a junior assistant and eventually was called again the following year to be a make-up artist.

“It was quite surprising when I was called back by Terri Smith, Owner and Director at Terri Creative Services & Management Sydney’s number one Indigenous, Ethnic & Pacific Talent Agency,” he said.

He added that the exposure with an amazing team lead by Terri Smith, had given him the exposure he needed as he had the chance to work on models from all over the world.

Kumar from his experiences gained throughout the years, is now the only local artist on board in Fiji, leading the make- up team on such events like the Miss World Fiji 2016 pageant and TEDx Suva.

As the passion for make-up artistry grew, he pursued accredited courses and graduated from Cameron Jane Makeup Design, which is one of Australia’s elite makeup academies based in Sydney.

He said that the art of creatively combining good make up techniques he also learnt from social media platforms, magazines and art galleries.

Personally as a make-up artist he’s styles vary from natural to quite intense looks.

“I usually do make-up depending on the occasion and what the client is after

“My favourite make-up products are from Dior, Mac and Chanel which accommodates different types and tones of skin.”

Before assisting his clients, he said it was important to analyse their skin, face cut and skin type to ensure that he applied the suitable combination of make-up to satisfy the clients requested look.

“Prepping the skin is very important before doing makeup. Different skin types have different regimen.

“Oily skin has to be toned before makeup application so that the pores are closed and makeup stays longer while dry skin has to be moisturized before makeup application to avoid cracks in foundation layer, makeup setting sprays at last adds extra points” he added.

He has signed up with a Sydney based talent management (Terri Creative) as a makeup artist and will be doing more international work.

“I have just got back from working in Hong Kong, Singapore and Macau under Terri Creative.”

He said he was also the Makeup director at World Supermodel Pageant 2017 which was hosted in Macau.

Nick is the first Fijian makeup artist signing up with the agency.
