FICAC Hold Awareness Sessions In The North

FICAC Hold Awareness Sessions In The North
July 07
11:00 2017

Two Fiji Commission against Corruption teams are in the Northern Division to conduct information awareness programmes.

“FICAC Media Officer Nandni Vandhana said the sessions were targeted at community groups, school students, teachers and school management.

She said the topics highlighted during the sessions included high risk areas in the public which were conducive to corruption.

“In the villages and communities, it is about informing members of the public to ensure that Government funds are utilised for Government capital projects and not abused for personal gain,” Ms Vandhana said.

“Complaints officers are also travelling with the teams for members of the public to lodge any complaints that they may have.

“This is also a way of taking FICAC services to the people who may not be able to access our offices in town.

“At the end of the day, the goal is to have better informed citizens who are aware of the ills of corruption as well as being able to identify the high risk areas and are empowered to report matters of corruption to FICAC.”

One team was in Cakaudrove yesterday for the district of Saqani which includes the villages of Nadogo, Valevoni, Nacula,
Natuvu and
Lakeba.

Another team will be at the Provincial Administrator’s office at the Macuata House with the Ministry for Rural of Maritime Development and Natural Disaster Management.
