‘Stay on track and pursue a worthwhile future’

Chief of Operations Assistant Commissioner of Police, Rusiate Tudravu has called on students at Nabala Secondary School to stay away from criminal activities.

The school located outside Labasa Town witnessed its 157 cadet’s march in the passing out parade in an impressive ceremony yesterday.

ACP Tudravu who officiated at the ceremony told the cadets to stay on track and pursue a worthwhile future.

He released statistics for 2015 staring that 77 crimes were committed by students in the Northern Division aged 18 years and below.

Most offences were assault and theft.

“We care about life and your future,” ACP Tudravu told the cadets.

Through the Duavata Community Policing programme, he said they were working with the Ministry of Education and other stakeholders to create awareness to students about ways to stay away from trouble.

“The cadet programme is aimed at improving overall discipline which is a fundamental asset if you are to do well academically and your life in general,” he said.

He said there were a lot of misconceptions about the cadet programme being too strict and a negative influence over a student’s life.

ACP Tudravu said following the intense weeks of drills and commitment to training, their passing out parade reflected their discipline.
