Lautoka aims to keep their unbeaten run in the Vodafone Premier League against Nadi on Sunday.

Suva is closing the gap on 15 points after eight games while Lautoka sits on 19 points after seven games.

A win over Nadi will leave Lautoka seven points ahead going into the second round.

Lautoka Football boss Abdul Kadar said the Blues needs to win the Vodafone Premier League to qualify for the OFC Championship.

“At present we are in that position and aim to maintain the No.1 spot.

“I know other districts like Nadi will be all out to disrupt our unbeaten run in the league,” Kadar said.

“We have looked after our players well and they have reciprocated by performing on the field and our plans are well in place.

“Nadi is a tough side to beat and the clashes over the past years have proved that.

“We last beat Nadi during the second round of the league last year winning 5-0 but we are expecting a tougher challenge on Sunday and the INKK Battle of the Giants just around the corner.”

Kadar said they have had slight disruptions with some players falling sick because of the current weather but was optimistic that all would be ready for the game against Nadi.”

Nadi Football soccer president Javed Ahmad said they were preparing well but were looking first at the game against Rakiraki tonight at Prince Charles Park.

“We need to defend Rakiraki and then work on our plan against Lautoka,”Ahmad said.

“Lautoka are unbeaten and will be difficult to overcome considering their present form so we need to prepare well.

“In fact Lautoka is the team to beat in the league.”

Both Kadar and Ahmad have asked for their fans to turn out in numbers to witness what they say would be one of the best clashes of the league this season.
