Excitement Builds For Drags

Excitement Builds For Drags

10:00 2017

Hello fellow car enthusiasts. The stage is all set for our first event of the year next Sunday. The excitement can already be felt.

It’s very interesting to see the number of specialist drag cars being built around Fiji especially for the upcoming drags this season.

There are also a number of car owners who recently got mechanics and tuners from overseas to prepare their cars for the upcoming drags.

This goes to show the level of competition that we will have in the next drags.

Based on this observation, our previous record holders we believe need to prepare their cars well or definitely your record will be broken in the upcoming drag race.

I also understand our current champion, the national record holder of Fiji of 9.75 seconds, Ravin Nath, is all ready to defend his title again this season.

About the categories

We will maintain the same race categories as we did in the last season.

However, we will make some changes on the qualifying rounds for the drag wars.

More details on this will be put on the Fiji Car Club official Facebook Page – Fiji Car Club AKA Fiji Motorsports Association.

This year we will also like to encourage more ladies to take part in the drag race.

We had four regulars last year and in the last event we had six ladies racing. We would like to see the number increase this season.

Also Fiji Car Club has noticed a lot of hybrid who are interested in drag racing. For them, we have different category. One will be under 2000cc and the other category for hybrid will be 2000cc or over.

So we look forward to yet another exciting event.

Fiji Car Club has decided that we will have a membership drive today from 3pm to 5pm at Prakash Residence at 29 Verrier Road, Namadi Heights.

We will have Fiji Car Club sign board in front of Vice President’s Residence indicating the membership drive.

The reason we are doing this is so that we can speed up our administration process during the race. This is the best time for you to become the member of the Fiji Car Club.

Some of the benefits of becoming the member of Fiji Car Club is having the privilege of checking-in your car inside the race track and also free entry into the event being hosted by the car club.

For more information on this, you can contact our secretary Rahul Ravnit Rajesh on 9928114 or assistant secretary Moize Shah on 7868491.

Till next week, have a safe driving week ahead.

Raizal Haniff is the President of the Fiji Car Club. This is FCC’s regular feature in our Sun Wheels to keep readers updated on the latest from the Fiji Car Club.
