Malamala Beach Club in the Mamanuca’s will open at the end of this month with unique offerings for visitors.

Owned by the Denarau-based South Sea Cruises, the island day-retreat has pumped $6.5 million to match market demand.

By next month the Club will offer a brand new contemporary style cuisine (ala carte) and bar offerings.

This includes a fully functioning restaurant and bar and  special cocktail programmes made by a mixologist from San Francisco, in the United States.

While there is no over-night accommodation, cabanas will be available for hire.

Boat transfers depart for the island from the Denarau marina at 10am and return at 5.30pm.

Chief Executive officer Brad Rutherford said: “We believe we will create a very unique and special atmosphere and experience at Malamala like no other.

“There is confidence in the market with the conference centre for groups. We are also offering good programmes for the locals.  We expect it to be a big success from tourist.”

He said Malamala is the first beach club located on their own island.

“It is an additional benefit to the tourism industry.”

Director of Sales and Marketing Wayne Deed said this is a brand new concept for Fiji.

The island is accessible by using a private jetty. Guests will be able to move easily from the boat to the club via the jetty.

He said it will have a totally different taste compared to their neighbouring South Sea Island.

“We have pitched that as out friendly style resort it’s all inclusive of BBQ, soft drink and beers compared to Malamala Beach Club,” Mr Deed said.
