Commander Land Force, Colonel Onisivoro Niumataiwalu Covunisaqa reminded the Ratu Sukuna Memorial School cadets the aim of the drill carried out during their passing -out parade on Friday.

“The aim is to produce a cadet who is alert and obedient and to provide the basis of teamwork and also that discipline is founded on drill,” Colonel Covunisaqa told the 821 cadets.

“The distinguished statesman and high chief that your school has been named after, would have been here to witness this spectacle today,” he said.

“I know the military instructors have imparted to you what I am echoing to you again because without achieving the aim of the drill you cannot be successful in life. Valuable lessons can be extracted from this aim alone.”

He said without alertness you would be left on the wayside while others move on to greater and better achievements.

Moreover, he said teamwork makes you work as a group towards a common goal. It divides the effort and multiplies the chances of success.

“In most professions today there is a requirement that you can work within a team,” he said.

Colonel Covunisaqa urged cadets to prepare themselves well for life after school.

“You must recognise that school will one day come to an end so by all means enjoy it but most importantly make the most of it.”

He concluded that cadets must give all their best in whatever they do so that their results will give them a wider choice in which to achieve their dreams.
