Jack’s Namosi are back in the Skipper Cup final after two years and play defending champions BLK Nadroga at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka on Saturday.

After winning five out of their seven competition games, the real test was against favourite QAQA Naitasiri in the semifinal at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori yesterday.

And they survived beating the Highlanders 16-13 in sudden death. The team put on a brave fightback after chasing the game throughout. Naitasiri led 10-0 at halftime.

Coach Akuila Nasi, who coached the Suva team to reach the final last year against Nadroga, knows better than anyone what’s at stake.

Leading Namosi into one of their toughest games yet, Nasi said the message was to stay alert and focused for the entire duration of the game or Nadroga will teach them a lesson.

“I was coaching Suva last year and we got into the final.  And again coaching Namosi we are in the finals and meeting Nadroga again, all I can say is that it will be interesting,” Nasi said.

“Playing against one of the top teams in the country will obviously be a huge hurdle for us to overcome.

“We’ve  to be fully prepared, playing against Nadroga is not easy, and there is a reason why they are the best.

“We have to be on top of our game or Nadroga will shut us down.

“But after our game against Naitasiri, it is clear there is a lot for us to do and improve on if we stand a chance of beating Nadroga.”
