Labasa Sangam Primary School Under-12 and U14 girls won the netball competition of the Macuata Primary Schools Zone 5 competition at the Labasa Muslim College school ground yesterday.

The U12 side beat Saint Augustine Primary School 10-2, Tabia Primary School 11-1 before they drew 10-10 with Bocalevu Primary School.

Sangam U12 coach Alumita Vula said she was proud of her girl’s performance.

“The girls need to tighten up their defence as they looked good in all their games,” she said.

Vula said five schools participated in the competition.

In the U14 grade, Labasa Sangam Primary School beat St Augustine 19-3, Tabia Primary School 10-2 before thrashing Bocalevu Primary School 22-1.

“It’s a good start for these potential players as they have trained hard for the past five weeks.”

The Labasa Sangam Primary School U12 and U14 teams have now qualified for the province’s zonals meet.
