Lautoka stay the favourite to win the 2017 Vodafone Premier League.

The Kamal Swamy-coached side remain undefeated after the completion of first round yesterday. The Blues amassed 22 points after beating Nadi 2-0 at Prince Charles Park.

What happened: Lautoka midfielder Zibraaz Shahib was the toast of the Blues scoring both goals and well assisted by striker Osea Vakatalesau, captain Valerio Nawatu, Dave Radrigai, Peni Finau and  Kavaia Rawaqa.

The first goal came in the 38th minute following a good cross from Rawaqa.

Halftime: Lautoka 1 – 0 Nadi.

The Blues took advantage of their chances and the home team was just unlucky and have only themselves to blame.

Striker Josefata Dugucagi, Ilimotama Jese, Ame Votoniu and Andrew Naicker played well for the Jetsetters.

Shahib sealed the match in the 75th minute.


Lautoka coach Kamal Swamy; “

The condition of the ground is bad for both the teams and we changed our tactics which worked in our favour. We knew they will focus on Nawatu and Vakatalesau and we will celebrate the win.”

Nadi assistant coach Viliame Toma, “Lautoka was a better side, we had our chances, they had theirs and they scored. Good luck to them.”
