The famous Bua horse racing competition will get underway on July 22 at the Lekutu Race Course in Bua.
Bua Racing Association treasurer, Mohammed Janiff says, this year the competition once again welcomes anyone in Vanua Levu to bring forward their horse and be part of any of the furlong categories.

Janiff said the one-day event would attract about 600 spectators with 30 horses.

He said the competition had actually begun last year where many people had greatly supported the event.

However, this year the Association has come-up with a different concept and that is to have a horse race competition every month- from now to December.

He said at the end of this year, the best horse would actually qualify to be part of the annual horse race competition in Viti Levu next year.

Janiff said in October, competitors would see a difference in prize money as it would increase compared to other races.

Meanwhile, next week the first prize winner will pocket $250 cash and a trophy while the second prize will get $150 and the third to win $100.
