Transportation giants General Machinery has once again thrown their weight behind Vodafone Premier League leaders Lautoka for the upcoming Inkk Mobile Battle of the Giants tournament.

GM managing director Alvin Singh has put this down to the present administration of Lautoka Football Association led by its president Abdul Kadar.

GM has sponsored Lautoka in the past and then held back on all sponsorship on what Singh says, was the administration of LFA.

“Now we’ve a lot of faith in the new administration and Kadar leading LFA has also brought in a lot of discipline into the team,” he said.

“Also he has brought back a lot of former Lautoka players to play for the district which I have always believed in. This is what’s happening now.”

The defending B.O.G champions will be known as General Machinery Lautoka during the tournament in Labasa and there is optimism that the sugar city side will perform well.

General Machinery managing directors, Alvin and Ajnit Singh got behind Lautoka during the Champion Versus Champion series and proved to be a winner.

Lautoka are the defending champions of the B.O.G and they look to General Machinery to once again add their winning touch.

“The Lautoka Football Association would like to thank General Machinery for coming onboard to sponsor us as nowadays it is hard to find companies to support teams,” Kadar said.

Kadar said he could not reveal the sponsorship deal but was something that was well-appreciated as this would see Lautoka play in Labasa with no financial worries. Lautoka were to have named their final 22-member squad for the B.O.G after training last night along with the captain.

Kadar said Lautoka face a stern test against Dreketi in the opening match and will take each game as it comes. He also made special mention of Lautoka’s longest serving player Jone Vono Junior who was present at the presentation yesterday.  Kadar said Vono, or JB, as he is known has won every football title for Lautoka and has been a faithful player for the district.
