The hearing dates for former Minister for Education Mahendra Reddy have been set for September 6 and 8.

The case was called before Chief Magistrate Usaia Ratuvili at the Suva Magistrateas Court yesterday.

Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption has charged Reddy with one count each of bribery and undue influence.

FICAC lawyer Sam Savumiramira told the court that they would be filing further disclosures.

Reddy is represented by Devanesh Sharma, Pravesh Sharma and Jiten Reddy.

Mr Devanesh Sharma informed the court that a notice of motion had been filed to fix an early hearing date, and further stated that they would not be challenging the caution interview statement.

It is alleged in May this year in the western division, Reddy in order to influence the vote of a school manager, directly conferred to offer a benefit which was a steady water source for the school.

It is also alleged that he interfered with the free exercise or performance of a political right of the school manager that is relevant to the 2018 general election.
