Former Fiji Commerce Commission chief executive Bobby Maharaj had his bail extended by the Suva Magistrates Court yesterday.

The matter was called before Magistrate Jioji Boseiwaqa.

Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption counsel Laite Bokini Ratu sought the court’s permission to be given a month to serve the proposed agreed facts.

Maharaj who is charged with abuse of office is represented by defence counsel Jiten Reddy.

It is alleged that Maharaj while employed by the FCC committed abuse of office, by directing an employee of FCC to fill in false information to indicate an inspection had been done, following which, a verbal warning was issued against the trader for breaches of the Commerce Commission decree.

The case has been adjourned to August 28, for mention.
