Ministry Pleased To Grant  Ba Women’s Forum $100,000

The Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation has given a grant of $100,000 to the Ba Women’s Forum.

Speaking at the signing the Permanent Secretary for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Josefa Koroivueta, said the ministry was happy to grant the money to the women of Ba.

“The group is multi-ethnic, well established, very reputable and have shown that they have women who are go getters, who are able to perceiver in the economic empowerment to make a difference in their own livelihoods,” Mr Koroivueta said.

He said it was the commitment of the Government that they also have another $100,000 in the next fiscal year for them.

“This is a smart investment by the Government in an institution which is reputable and is also making a difference in the local and international markets,” he said.

“We are very fortunate to have the strong leadership. Its women leadership on the rise and we hope this will continue to rise.”

He hopes the $100,000 will go a long way to equip the facility with the needed cooking equipment so that cooking pastry and training thereafter will be successful.

The president of the Ba Women’s Forum, Maria Doton, thanked the ministry for the grant and ensured that it would be put to good use.

“Ba Women’s Forum strives to be a role model to all women proving to the world that women can do anything, if only they have a desire,” Ms Doton said.

She said the grant would be used to equip the kitchen in the training centre, buy the needed furniture and equipment for the office.

Eight hundred members from the forum will benefit from the grant.
