The Rugby World Cup qualifier/Pacific Nations Cup match against Samoa today will be special for Vodafone Flying Fijians skipper Akapusi ‘Q’ Qera.

This is the first time for the Tubou, Lakeba, and Lau native to captain the national side in Samoa.

“First time to captain the team here in Samoa, it’s a special occasion,”Qera said.

“The last time I played at Apia Stadium was in 2005 that’s where we had a massive fight.

“We are looking forward to this and we know it’s a big challenge for us.”

The John McKee-coached side had achieved its first target last weekend and that was qualifying for the 2019 Rugby World Cup. And hopes are high in the Fijian camp to achieve their second goal today.

“When we marched into camp for the June test we already set our goals and targets and part of it was to qualify for the RWC and we achieved that last week,”Qera said.

“And this week we have turned our focus on retaining our title,” he said.

Game kicks off at 1pm and will be shown live on Fiji One.
“They got a good team of talented players, they have not sparked in this June test but they might spark this Saturday and we know they are good at home.”

Samoa captain David Lemi said:” Preparation has been going well, we hope to play a good game like our game against Wales and make our people proud.

“We have to improve our discipline that was our main weakness against Tonga.”
