‘All the ideas and moves came from the students themselves and we just incorporated everything’

Sacred Heart College is ready for their debut performance at the Kula Dance competition.

School headgirl and dancer Adi Laisani Navakaroko said their performance was a transition from traditional to modern dance.

“This is the first time we are taking part at the event and we’re all excited about performing,” Adi Laisani said.

The five-minute mixture features Fijian, Samoan, Wallis and Futuna, and Hip Hop music.

“All the ideas and moves came from the students themselves and we just incorporated everything,” she said.

She said rehearsals had been going very well and she encouraged former scholars, family, friends and supporters to come out and support them at the event.

The Kula Film Awards will be held on Friday (July 28) at the Village 6 Vmax at Damodar City in Laucala Bay.

The Kula Dance competition will be on July 29 at the Vodafone Arena.

FIJI AIRWAYS ART AWARDS:

Joji Madayag is among four students from Sacred Heart College who will be taking part in this month’s Kula Art Awards.

“My painting depicts the sun as the mother holding her children symbolising hope and protection, it took me one week to complete the painting,” he said.

Mr Madayag aspires to take up art as a career and wants to be a comic artist in the future.

The year 11 student’s painting is based on this year’s theme: “Children of the Sun”.
