Vodafone Flying Fijians head coach John McKee plans for a better performance during Europe Tour in November.

McKee returned with team yesterday after defending the Pacific Nations Cup beating Tonga (14-10) and Samoa (38-16).

The Akapusi Qera-captained side will play Italy, Ireland and Canada later in the year.

“We are back from a very successful campaign and we are already thinking about the November tour,” he said.

“We want to step up in each campaign between now and the 2019 Rugby World Cup. Our next matches will be against Italy, Ireland and Canada.

“And more importantly on the home front is the National Rugby Championship competition which is due to start in September.

“It is important for the local players to have a stake in the competition and the November tour as well.”

Furthermore, McKee was impressed with No. 8 Nemani Nagusa for his efforts.

“He has been very strong for us and played very well especially in the two PNC games,” he added.

McKee took his hat off for skipper Akapusi Qera and hooker Sunia Koto for going strong passing their 50th test.

At the age of 37, hooker Sunia Koto is certainly a hardworking and loyal servant of the game and has done Fiji proud both locally and internationally.

He made his debut for Fiji, on June 3, 2005, against the New Zealand Māori.

They are in their 50 test, they are the experience campaigners for Fiji, they wear the jumper with pride with once again they were good for us once again,” McKee added.

Koto said it was an honour to play for Fiji.

“It hasn’t change and as long as the coach selects me I will always do my best and play my part in the team and contribute in any way possible.”
