The Sharon Smith-coached national swimming team are taking part in the 2017 FINA Long Course World Championship in Budapest.

The team features Herbert Rabua, Cheyenne Rova and Matelita Buadromo.

“The three are the top swimmers in the country and it is very important for them to be part of the event,” Smith said.

“The objective is for them to achieve personal bests and break national records.

“This is preparation for upcoming tournaments particularly the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia.”

Buadromo will take part in the 100 metres freestyle and butterfly event, Rova in the 100m backstroke and 50m freestyle while Rabua takes part in the 50m and 100m breaststroke.

The team returns home on August 2.
