Land Transport Authority (LTA) will have some significant proposed changes to Public Service Vehicle (PSV) permits. This would impact LTA’s administration of the Land Transport Act and subsequent regulations as confirmed by LTA chief executive officer Carmine Piantedosi yesterday.

“The price of the sale of taxi permits will depend on the structure we will come up with. The price will also depend on the market,” Mr Piantedosi said.

“This will change if Government comes up with certain rules and regulations,” he said.

Mr Piantedosi said LTA was working closely with Government to understand the proposed amendments and the impact it would have on the LTA policy, processes, procedures and guidelines.

“We understand that some changes are likely to take effect from October 1, 2017 while others may come into effect from early 2018.

“The LTA will be in a position to administer these changes as seamlessly as possible, once details of the changes are clarified.

He also said that once the details were clarified, LTA would communicate the changes to stakeholders and customers through appropriate means of communication as early as practicable.

“As indicated, the Authority has yet to receive specific details regarding the proposed changes and what these changes will look like particularly with respect to trading of permits or how the market for PSV permits will be administered.”
