Lau  Festival Aims To Raise $300K

The chairperson of the Lau Provincial Council Ilisoni Taoba says they hope to raise $300,000 during the two-day 2017 Adi Natuicake Festival at Kauvesi Park in Raiwai, Suva.

The festival’s aim, which will held be from August 2 to 4, is to assist the 13 districts and 72 villages in the Lau Province.

Ratu Quentine Falemaka Uluilakeba who is representing the chiefly Vuanirewa Clan is the Head of the Bose Vanua of Lau in Urban Areas and Head of Lakeba Tikina Urban.

He said the festival was one of the resolutions during of the Lau Provincial Meeting. It was originally part of the blue print initiated by the late Tui Nayau Ratu Sir Kamisese Mara.

He said the Yatu Lau Company was the brainchild of this initiative of the people of Lau and their late chief.

“I sincerely believe that God will continue to bless the people of Lau with wisdom and knowledge, as we continue to acknowledge that God chose Lau to accept Christianity which had brought good changes to Lau as Saint Paul in his letter,” he said.

Ratu Quentin acknowledged Government, through the Ministry of iTaukei Affairs through the Culture and Language Section, Ministry of Social Welfare, Women and Poverty Alleviation, Fijian Holdings, Unit Trust, World Wildlife Fund, Jack’s Fiji and Motibhai Fiji for their support.
