Lautoka is hoping to break a 12- year drought when it takes on Nadi in the semifinal of the INKK Mobile Battle of the Giants at Churchill Park on Saturday.

Lautoka’s last winning in a tournament on home soil was in 2005 when they won the  Courts Inter-District Championship.

For Lautoka Football president, Abdul Kadar, nothing would be sweeter than to retain the B.O.G on home ground this weekend.

Rewa meets Labasa in the first semifinal today and the winners for both clashes will meet in the final at Churchill Park on Sunday.

However Kadar has thrown caution to the wind as he knows Nadi are a champion side and they have been in all tournament semifinals of late.

“We have a lot of respect for Nadi as they are a very good side, especially when it comes to the crunch like this coming semifinal,” Kadar said.

“Out of all sides in the competition, Nadi poses perhaps our biggest obstacle to reaching the final.

“Our players have already been told to be on their guard throughout the game.”

Kadar said the team will enter the game injury free and will have their full set of players.

“We don’t have any concerns right now with players.”

Kadar said their success so far this year, including their clean sheet in the Vodafone Premier League and the performance in pool matches for the B.O.G last weekend must be credited to the discipline in the team.

“Discipline is high in the side and with that we make sure the welfare of the players are well looked after.”

“With that in place, you will surely find the right attitude of the players going in to each game.”

Kadar has called on the people of Lautoka to support their team as they attempt to retain the B.O.G title.

“Please come in numbers to support the team.”
