The NewWorld Suva Netball competition wrapped up eight rounds of pool games and will have their semifinals this weekend.

Suva Netball vice-president/ games director Gabrielle Qoro said it was good to see at the end of the eight rounds that small teams are making an impact.

“The weekly league went very well and we managed to complete our eight- round of games on time,” Qoro said.

“The young teams performed well which is always good to see.

“It is nice to have some good quality competition and good to see the standard has gone up with all these teams fighting to be in the knockout stages.”

Qoro said the recent achievement of the Baby Pearls in the Netball Youth World Cup not only motivated young netballers but made competition fierce.

“For the Baby Pearls to come back and play in their respective clubs has really made the competition exciting,” he said.

“Their achievement in Botswana inspired the younger ones to do well in and improve their game on the court.

With the semifinals being held this weekend at the National Netball Centre, Qoro said they will be expecting some good quality games.
