Josese Tawake won the Under  11 best player trophy during the Suva Kaji Rugby Awards at Lambert Hall on Saturday.

“I was surprised when they announced my name but it means a lot and I’m grateful they chose me,” Tawake said.

The Daku, Naceva, Kadavu native said his most memorable moment was during their game with Gospel Primary School where they drew 7-7.

“It was a very challenging game for us, Gospel Primary was tough but I’m glad we ended the season successfully,” Tawake said.

The Year Six student looks up to Parramatta Eels winger Semi Radradra as his favourite player.

“I like Semi because of his speed the way he beats his opponents.

“My future aim is to get an overseas scholarship and to play rugby,” he said.

The prop who has maternal links to Nasama village in Nadroga hopes to join either Marist Brothers High School or Queen Victoria School for his secondary education.
