Funds raised at the annual Viti Spinal Injuries Association of Fiji Old Skool Ball on Saturday night at the Grand Pacific Hotel exceeded their expectation.

While secretary, Rokula McGoon could not yet disclose the amount raised but confirmed that all 35 tables selling at $1750 were sold.

“Then we have expenses and other costs to be deducted before we can finalise what we were able to raise,” Mrs McGoon said.

“The objective of the ball is to raise funds to look after those with spinal injuries,” she said.

“Majority like my husband do not receive much assistance – so this is to assist them.”

The organisation has projects and one of them is building a house for Sekonaia Kotobalavu who was injured 10 years ago.

“Saturday night’s turnout has given us so much hope as we work towards achieving our projects,” she said.

“There were some visitors from overseas that came to support our cause and we are so thankful to them.”

Chief Guest, renowned and acclaimed actor, the well- known former Shortland Street star Temuera Morrison spoke on the need of supporting the association.

He also entertained the crowd alongside the Pasifika.
