Seruvakula Gets NRC Coaching Job

Telecom Fijian Warriors head coach Senirusi Seruvakula is going to coach the Fijian side that are going to play in the Australia National Rugby Championship.

The appointment was confirmed yesterday by the Fiji Rugby Union.

FRU chief executive officer, John O’Connor said they’ve reached a decision after extensive interviews with all the applicants.

“The interviews were conducted by FRU and World Rugby and after further consultation we selected the best applicant for the job,” he said.

“We’re pleased that he has accepted the job. He will be responsible in guiding the team to international success and contribute to the leadership of the FRU High Performance program. This is an opportunity for him to work with and develop Fiji’s current and future elite players.”

Seruvakula comes to the position with wide knowledge and experience following three successful years as Warriors coach. His qualifications include being a Level 3 World Rugby Accredited coach, IRB Level 1 Strength and Conditioning accredited coach and is currently in the process of completing the Australian Rugby Union Level 3 coaching course.

The 2017 National Rugby Championship is in the fourth season of Australia’s National Rugby Championship. It involves nine professional rugby union teams, one more than the previous year, with eight teams from Australia and one team from Fiji.

The tournament starts on September 2 and will run for nine weeks. Fiji will play eight games, with four home and four away games with the grand final scheduled for November 11.
