Six months of studying in Samoa has paid off, says Vikash Prasad. He graduated with a Certificate III in Plumbing from the Australia-Pacific Technical College (APTC) at Friendly North Inn in Labasa on Thursday, July 20.

The 29-year-old employee of the Fiji Sugar Corporation Labasa Mill said: “When I received my scholarship from my company and the European Union, I didn’t hesitate because I always wanted to study what I loved although it is not a most favourable and wanted job.

“I did complete Certificate III Plumbing at the Fiji National University in 2011, but because I have a dream to work in overseas I thought to upgrade my skills and knowledge,” the eldest of three said.

Originally from Bulileka, Labasa, Mr Prasad said he was thankful to his company and the EU for their support.

“If it wasn’t for them, I wouldn’t be holding this certificate beside my wife, Lorishma Prasad,” he said.

Mrs Prasad said she felt relieved not only that her husband returned safely, but also that he managed to successfully finish his course.
