Goodman Fielder is providing $25,000 for the WESTKids Rugby Development Festival on August 15-17 at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.

The Western Primary Schools Rugby Association (WPSRA) event will be known as the ‘2017 Crest WESTKids Rugby Development Festival’.

The cash donation will also be used to help subsidise team’s transportation to the festival.

Goodman Fielder acting general manager George Peckham was grateful for the opportunity.

“The sponsorship provides basic approach for us to actually invest back to the community and give back to the next generation of rugby players,” Peckham said.

“The sponsorship is basically an opportunity for our children to showcase their skills.

“With the Crest sponsorship, Goodman Fielder stands on it values of working with our community and sustaining the process where our children can nurture their talents.

“We hope this sponsorship will go a long way, as this is our fourth year sponsoring the event.”

WPSRA president Albert Wise was thankful for the support.

“This year the festival will be a multi-racial event which includes the participation of our Fijian students of Indian descent and the promotion of girls’ rugby.

“The event will be unique and different from previous years,” Wise said.

The 2017 Crest WESTKids Rugby Development Festival is the biggest since 2013, boosting a total of 12 districts; Navosa, Nadroga, Nadi, Lautoka, Ba, Tavua-Vatukoula, Ra from the western division, Seaqaqa and Bua South from the Northern Division, Naitasiri South and Northland from Central Division.

“This sponsorship will strengthen our mission to offer our young athletes excellent opportunities and the right environment to try rugby, play rugby and stay to grow and develop through the multi-faceted programme we offer.”
