Seventeen Australian companies are in Suva this week to learn about water and waste water project opportunities in Fiji.

Australian High Commissioner to Fiji, Margaret Twomey, said the visit was an opportunity for Australian businesses to collaborate with Fijian companies to assist with water and waste water infrastructure projects, especially after Tropical Cyclone Winston.

“Australia, through the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade), plays an important role in promoting business and trade opportunities in Fiji to Australian businesses.

“Our business linkages are important for the economic development of both our countries.

“The visiting trade delegation will have the opportunity to consider innovative ways to work alongside Fiji businesses and authorities to help address the water challenges facing Fiji,” said Ms Twomey.

Australian businesses will have discussions with the Asian Development Bank and the Water Authority of Fiji to explore opportunities and to learn how their capabilities can assist with the delivery of projects, knowledge transfer, employment, investment and training.

The Australian Trade and Investment Commission has collaborated with Pacific Islands Trade Invest Australia to organise the mission.
