Narendra Rao was the toast of the 4R Electrical Ba football side as he scored their lone goal when they beat Suva 1-0 in the Vodafone Premier League clash at Govind Park, Ba yesterday.

What happened: Both teams started strongly as they tried to score an early.

But their strikers failed to score despite the numerous scoring opportunities.

Halftime: Ba 0-0 Suva

In the second half, continuous pressure from the hosts saw the Suva defenders buckle as they gave away a penalty.

Rao took the kick and made no mistake as he placed the ball to the back of the net for a 1-0 lead.

Ba upped the pressure as they tried to extend their lead but the Suva defence stood firm. Suva fought back in the final quarter as they looked for the equaliser but their efforts were in vain.

Comments: Ba team manager Arvind Singh said: “The three points from this game is very important and I’m happy that the boys displayed good soccer. We have four games remaining and we’re taking one game at a time. We’ve noted our shortcomings from this game and we’ll work on improving it for the upcoming games.”

Suva coach Sam Lal said: “There were too many referee errors and as a result we lost the game. We will be playing Nadi next week. We’ve games against Rakiraki and Lautoka as well.”
