The Jone Sariri-skippered Nadi Aviators side will face Lautoka Crusaders in the opening round of the Vodafone Inter- Zone rugby league competition at Churchill Park, Lautoka tomorrow.

The defending champions will be out to retain their titles in the premier and U20 grades. There will also be competition for women.

“It’s going to be tough as we will be playing the Crusaders who have been playing the sport for some time now compared to the Aviators,” Sariri said.

He said there are few faces in the team after few players have gone abroad.

The side will be baking on the experience of players like Roger Taylor, Rusiate Waqa, Sikeli Qauqau, Viliame Rakuli and Simon Wise.

Nadi Aviators Rugby League president Joe Gray said they were ready to defend the title and the vanua of Nadi and the executives behind the team.

“We are looking forward to a wonderful year. It’s not going be an easy year but we are actually geared up to snatch the two titles in the Premier and U20 grades Vodafone Vanua Challenge.

In other matches, Nasinu Titans face Ra Roosters while Suva Eagles face Nadroga Knights in all the three grades.

Meanwhile, the Vodafone Inter-Zone Competition launch will be at the Churchill Park, Lautoka at 10am today.
