The Vodafone Fijian football team aims to book a spot in the semifinal after they take on Cook Islands in their third game of the OFC Women’s U16 Championship in Apia, Samoa at 4pm today.

The side defeated American Samoa 4-1 in its opening match and drew their second game against Tonga.

Coach Marika Rodu said the players have prepared well for their next game.

“A win in our next game is crucial because it will ensure the side a spot in the semifinals,” Rodu said.

“We are looking forward to improve our performance and hopefully score a few goals.

“My focus right now is to get the girls together and work on our defence.

“And we are aware that Cook Islands are an experienced and it will not be an easy task to counter them.

“We still need to work hard until the last game.”
