The first consolation prize for the Fiji Sun Weekend Car Promotion was drawn yesterday at Courts Fiji Limited, Nakasi branch.

Proud winner, Arishma Ashwin Devi was happily suprised to receive a call from a Courts representative saying that she had won  a Hisense 50” Smart FHD LED TV worth $1800.

The 19-year-old said she was talking to her mother when she saw a company number calling her.

She leaped with joy and excitement as she heard “Congratulations, you had won yourself a…” from the caller.

According to her, she thought at first that she had won the car.

The second year student from the University of the South Pacific said she found out about the promotion as she browsed through the Fiji Sun.

She dropped four entries named under her, her mother and father at the promotion box in MHCC.

There are two months left until the main prize will be drawn.

“It is a big thing for Fiji because we are giving something better for the society,” said Courts Fiji Ltd director of marketing Anil Senewiratne.

The promotion to win a Chevrolet Sonic will end in September while the grand draw will take place in October.

There is a still a chance for everyone to win two consolation prizes, a double-duo fridge and automatic washing machine, said Mr Senewiratne.

Winners of the consolation prize will still have a chance to enter the draw for the main prize.

Fiji Sun general manager adverrising and business development, Rachna Lal said: “We had received thousands of entries and it was very overwhelming.

“It has been after a long time since we ran a competition with such a big giveaway and the market has reacted very well to it.”

Ms Lal said the response was more than what was expected.

She encourages everyone to buy the Fiji Sun Weekend to increase their chances of winning.

The draw was done by one of the Courts customers who were at the Courts/Philips mega sale at Nakasi yesterday.
