Likuliku Lagoon Resort has been given the Hall of Fame Award for providing excellence in Fiji’s tourism industry.

The award was announced during the launch of the ANZ Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards 2017 Entries at Novotel Hotel in Nadi yesterday.

Fiji Excellence Tourism Awards board of trustees’ chairman Bill Whiting said the award was a new initiative that they introduced as part of this year’s award.

He commended the Likuliku Lagoon Resort for setting a good example in providing excellent service in Fiji’s tourism industry.

Mr Whiting added the resort was also the first to receive the award and it was a tremendous achievement.

Likuliku Lagoon Resort won the Luxury Accommodation for five consecutive years since 2012.

In 2009, they won the Deluxe Unique Accommodation Award.

Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism, Faiyaz Koya said the awards were a flagship to give recognition to the tourism industry contributions to Fiji’s economy.

He added the tourism industry contribution to the Fijian Economy has increased over the years.

Likuliku Lagoon Resort on Malolo Island in the Mamanuca group off Nadi is one of two award-winning island resorts belonging to the Whitton family owned Rosie Holidays group.

Likuliku is a luxury couples-only property and was first in Fiji to have overwater luxury “bures”.

It has won a series of local and international awards for its total experience.

The applications for the 2017 Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards 2017 launch, Mr Whiting added would give recognition to businesses and staff for the exceptional work undertaken that made the industry today.

“Through these awards we honour the individuals and companies who diligently work to provide our visitors an enjoyable and memorable experience,” Mr Koya said.
