The Vodafone Fijian football head coach Christophe Gamel warns weather should not be an excuse if the teams fails to achieve positive result against Indonesia.

Fijians plays Indonesia at 9pm (Fiji Time) today at Patriot Chandrabahaga stadium, Bekasi in Indonesia.

This was after the Bula Boys failed to adjust and recover properly to the Jakarta heat since they arrived on Tuesday.

Gamel said he had to stop the training session on Thursday after he noticed a deteriorating performance from the boys.

“We have not managed our training sessions properly as I had to stop in between to have more recovery sessions,”Gamel said.

“The heat is very different from Fiji and the boys are not used to it but this should not be the excuse.

“That is why I came three days before the game to prepare them adapt.”

Gamel said he would work his way out to bring in a positive change within the boys before game time.

“It was a bit better on Thursday but I’m still not satisfied at all. If we go in this way, the result can be really disappointing, so I hope they change their mind and work rate before the game.

“It’s difficult for them to maintain consistency, so I have to find a way to change and bring in positive mental process. Nothing is impossible.”

Draunibaka teams up

Meanwhile, Misaele Draunibaka is back with the team in Jakarta.

He was stopped during the check-in process at the Nadi International Airport on Tuesday concerning his damaged passport. But with a quick response from Fiji Football Association, he joined the camp in Indonesia on Thursday.

Coach Gamel believes Draunibaka should be able to pick up from today’s training session.

“Of course I think he will be able to pick up from one training session.

“There will be another game and we will see how he copes with the team.”
