Parents Should Get More Involved in this New Term

Parents need to start playing a bigger role in their children’s education, especially this term.

Many students will be sitting for external examinations this term and parents need to pull up their socks.

We cannot just rely on teachers to focus on curriculum during classes.

Government has taken a huge burden off parents by making education free, paying for bus fares and providing free breakfast for Year One students.

There are no reasons why children should miss out from classes now.

For far too long, a number of parents put the blame of a child’s poor performance squarely on shoulders of their teachers.

This is not acceptable and should not become a norm with parents.

Spend time going over your child’s homework, find out from them if they are facing difficulties and invest in extra classes and tuitions for your children.

We have noted many, many cases where parents become too busy with their social obligations and put their child’s education on the back burner.

This is a critical term for students and they need all the mentoring and assistance they can get.

No external examination can be taken lightly and how they fare now in schools is a deciding factor for how their career and future endeavours shape up.

Do your bit and be there for your child.
