The Vicki Wilson-coached Fijian Pearls are looking forward to a physical encounter against South Africa in the Digicel Punjas netball test series.

The two tests will be played tomorrow and Friday at the Vodafone Arena in Suva.

Wilson said the test series will be a great opportunity for the players to get exposed to international competition.

“The girls are all very keen and enthusiastic,” Wilson said.

“And the whole reason behind hosting this test series is for the girls to get exposure to top competition.

“We worked on ensuring the preliminary moves in our attack and we aware we are playing against 5th ranked team in the world.

“We have 14 players and will name the final 12 on Wednesday.

“We are also looking at the bigger picture of preparing for the Commonwealth Games in April as we have South Africa in our pool game.”

Corporate Support Lauded

Wilson thanked Digicel and Punjas for their support.

“I would like to thank Digicel Fiji and Punjas for their endless support for Netball Fiji to host South Africa here,” Wilson said.

“I think the most pleasing thing about this test series is that we have four of the players who were part of the Youth Netball World Cup in Botswana.”
