The funeral service of the late former Nationalist Vanua Tako Lavo Party leader Iliesa Duvuloco will be held tomorrow at the Nabua Methodist Church.

Preparations for the funeral had started and since Mr Duvuloco’s family home was under renovation, the gathering for the reguregu would be at the Soqosoqo Vakamarama Hall at Nabua today.

Speaking to the Fiji Sun yesterday, Mrs Kelera Nawaqatabu Duvuloco said she would miss her husband.

“I really miss my loving husband,” she said.

She said her husband suffered from a massive stroke and brain hemorrhage last week and passed away on Friday.

“We have a small shed at home as family members are coming in but the main venue for the reguregu will be the Soqosoqo Vakamarama Hall at Nabua,” Mrs Duvuloco said.

After the service he said the body would be taken to Naivuruvuru village, Verata, Tailevu for burial and they would return for lunch at the Soqosoqo Vakamarama Hall.

Mr Duvuloco was a former Fijian politician and leader of the Nationalist Vanua Tako Lavo Party. He was involved in the 2000 coup d’état and was jailed for 18 months.

He formed the Nationalist Vanua Tako Lavo Party in 1999 through a merger of his own Vanua Tako Lavo Party and the late Sakeasi Butadroka’s Fijian Nationalist Party, both of whom championed ethnic nationalism and indigenous Fijian political supremacy.

When the late Mr Duvuloco led the party, Viliame Savu served as the party’s president in the 1999 General Eletions.
